Vendor Partner Spotlight: House of Morgan Pewter

House of Morgan Pewter was a Vendor Partner for the SimplyNCgoods 2024 Holiday-themed box.  Every SimplyNCgoods box is specially curated and filled with unique items made right here in North Carolina.  Amanda and Matt Morgan, the current owners of House of Morgan Pewter, worked with us to include one of their seasonal pewter pieces – a cheerful snowman ornament – in the most recent quarterly SimplyNCgoods box.

The Morgan family, located in Lenoir County, described their family business as “craft[ing] silvery pewter keepsakes that dangle elegantly, far too pretty to put away when the holidays are over.”

Product Highlight

We asked Amanda Morgan to tell us a bit more about pewter and the hand craftsmanship that brings each piece to life.  She let us know that, “Pewter — a metal alloy of tin, copper, and antimony — has been prized for its durability since at least the Middle Ages.”

A pewter snowman ornament shines brightly in the sun as it hangs on a cedar tree branch. One of these ornaments was included in the recent SimplyNCgoods gift box.

The cheerful snowman that was included inside the recent SimplyNCgoods box is part of a family legacy of pewter work that spans 4 decades.  Every original design is hand casted using molten pewter, hand filled, and hand strung.  It truly is a hands-on, family affair to bring these pewter creations to life.

The Story of House of Morgan Pewter

Every small business has a story behind how it got started, and House of Morgan Pewterl is no different.  Amanda and Matt were kind enough to share some of the background of this small business out of Kinston, NC.

From Amanda and Matt:

“Kent and Martha Morgan (Matt’s uncle and aunt) found their way to the craft in 1980, after watching a pewter-making demonstration at Colonial Williamsburg. Over the next 40 years, they built a thriving business, and eventually passed House of Morgan Pewter down to [Matt, his wife Amanda, and their three children.]”

Amanda continued to share the mission of their small business, saying,

“With every ornament, keychain, and piece of jewelry that the Morgans cast, they continue both a family tradition and an art form that goes back centuries.”

Some North Carolina Love

SimplyNCgoods is all about loving and sharing North Carolina.  We invited the Morgans to share about something they appreciate about NC, and here is what they said:

“North Carolina, where the mountains meet the coast, offers stunning landscapes and rich history. From the Blue Ridge Parkway to the Outer Banks, inspiration is everywhere. North Carolina’s beauty easily sparks our creativity for new designs.”

From creations that reflect North Carolina’s lighthouses to special ornaments that give back to Western NC neighbors impacted by Hurricane Helene, you can see this variety and beauty in the designs created by House of Morgan Pewter!
