Vendor Partner Spotlight: Black Powder Coffee

We love working directly with North Carolina entrepreneurs as we curate each SimplyNCgoods box!  One of our Vendor Partners for the August 2024 SimplyNCgoods box was Black Powder Coffee.  We worked with Drew Cook, the founder of Black Powder Coffee to include their Frying Pan Tower Blend in this recent box.  Read on for more about how this uniquely NC blend came to be…

Product Highlight

Drew shared some details about the Frying Pan Tower Blend from Black Powder Coffee:

“A few years ago, we came across Richard Neal and the Frying Pan Tower.  The Frying Pan Tower is a retired US Coast Guard Tower 32 miles off the coast of North Carolina.  Richard, who is active on social media promoting the restoration for future generations, enjoys a cup of coffee each morning.  We knew we wanted to partner with The Frying Pan Tower for a signature blend to help preserve a local piece of North Carolina history! Frying Pan Tower Signature Blend – a portion of the proceeds goes directly back to the tower.

How are these funds put to use?

“Helping them slow down rust from salt air and water, purchase new steel for improvements and replacements, and provide new resources for solar power, as well as cameras for underwater exploration and education. Coffee may not seem like a big deal but 32 miles off the coast, we are providing that morning cup for the volunteers making everything happen!”

The Story of Black Powder Coffee

Every small business has a story behind how it got started, and Black Powder Coffee is no different.  Drew was kind enough to share some of the background of this small business out of Mooresville, NC..

From Drew:

“Black Powder Coffee is a small batch craft coffee roaster located in Mooresville, NC.  We roast to order for retail (brick and mortar at the roastery and online) and wholesale accounts .  We supply coffee for restaurants, specialty retail, coffee shops, hotels, grocery, business offices, non-profits and churches.”

Check out the Black Powder Coffee website to see all the varieties of coffee available from this NC-based, small batch roaster.

Some North Carolina Love

SimplyNCgoods is all about loving and sharing North Carolina.  We invited Drew to share about something he appreciates about NC, and here is what he said:

“North Carolina is home! Born and raised, enjoying the mountains to the coast, which can be traveled all within a day.  North Carolina has something for everyone, great hiking, beautiful beaches, farm land, amazing local businesses and large cities if that’s your thing!”

We couldn’t have said it better – North Carolina really does have a little something for everyone!
